Oh sweet exhilaration! I went shopping alone today! And I know what you must be thinking, knowing me, that I finally broke loose to buy shoes or clothes in sweet Pari....nope, I bought groceries. Such an easy thing? Well not when I can't speak french. I was nervous. Nervous of what I ask myself? that someone will speak to me and I won't understand? No...ah! that I won't be understood. That I will not get what I want. These things you have to let go. For example, on our first trip to a large grocery store, sort of a combination between Costco and Superstore, among other things, we chose some oranges and apples. Upon check out, the cashier held up the bags and asked us something in french , most likely wanting the codes for the fruit .....as we would discover when he merely put them aside. No looking for the code at this store, oh no. at least not with that big line behind us. That was it. No code, no fruit. I really wanted those apples too.

The Eiffel Tower. I have seen it. I am victorious. So iconic. A certain feeling came over me upon seeing it at first site. How many time had I seen it in films, books, posters? It symbolizes a freedom, a dream, a dream of escape of burden to so many. Life is shitty?

Well one day we'll move to Paris..

And we did! It's still unreal to me. Perhaps because we are in a Hotel/Apartment and 99% of my belongings are still in a storage locker in Vancouver...but that's another story. It has been almost 2 weeks, so I am still in vacation mode, but I leisurely one. Content to wander the streets a little at a time...

  1. ah yes. That is one thing I forgot to tell you. In the produce section, there is a barcode machine for produce. you need to weigh it, and print out a barcode sticker for your fruit. and some vegetables.
